“In fact, what determines your wealth is not how much you make but how much you keep of what you make.” – David Bach

Bach suggests that regardless of how much money a person brings in, their ability to accumulate wealth depends largely on their spending habits, saving practices, and investment choices. Many people may earn substantially but fail to retain wealth due to overspending or poor financial decisions. The true measure of financial improvement is not simply the income you generate, but how well you preserve and grow that income over time so that you don’t have to work forever.

The idea here is that a person who is careful with his or her money—who saves a portion of their earnings, invests wisely, and avoids excessive debt—can build wealth even with a modest income. Hence, wealth is not merely a reflection of how much you earn, but how much you can keep and grow through wise financial habits and smart decision-making.
