“Spending is quick; earning is slow.”– Russian

When I read this quote, I smiled. It reflected reality. The quote emphasizes the ease with which we spend money compared to the effort, energy, time, commitment, and patience to earn it. While it is easy to deplete money earned through the month in one day or money inherited in a few months it is not easy to earn it over the same period. The message here is that spending can be impulse but earning cannot. Earning requires patience, planning, hard work, and putting skills to work which are not at all required for spending. Therefore, careful consideration of how you spend is emphasized in this quote.

Essential to note is that if you spend money quickly, you risk not having any savings, no investments, and getting into debt. The lesson and reminder here is to be conscious of how quickly money can be spent, calling upon you to be more mindful of your financial decisions and recognize the value of your hard-earned income.
